I am having trouble connecting to the internet.

If you are having issues connecting to the Internet, please use these steps to get online.

Step 1

Verify that you have power to the outside antenna/Subscriber Module by validating that the power light is illuminated on the power block inside the building. The green light in the center of the power block should be glowing green, similar to the green LED in the picture.

When you have completed this step, click on the Step 2 tab above.

If you have access to the outside antenna/Subscriber Module installed on the outside of your building, verify that the module has power and is connected to the tower. To do so, remove the protective cover on the bottom of the antenna/Subscriber Module by releasing the small latch next to the cable entry location and sliding the protective cover away from the module parallel to the cable entering the bottom of the module.

When you have the cover removed:

  • Verify the antenna/Subscriber Module has power, indicated by a solid Red light marked PWR. If this light is on, you have power to the antenna/Subscriber Module.
  • Verify that the antenna/Subscriber module is connected to your computer, and that there are no issues with the Ethernet cables by verifying you have a good Link, indicated by the Green light marked LNK. If this light is one, your antenna/Subscriber Module is linked to your router or computer. If this light is not on, your Ethernet cable(s) to your router are not working and should be checked and replaced.
  • Verify that you are syncing to the tower, which is indicated by an Orange light marked SYN. If this light is on solid and not blinking, you have established a good connection with the tower on the other end. If this light is blinking, you do not have a good signal between your antenna/Subscriber Module and the tower. It may possible that the antenna/Subscriber Module has moved due to wind or is blocked by something that was not in the way at the time of installation.
  • Verify that your antenna/Subscriber Module is registered with the tower, which is indicated by a Green light marked SES. If this light is on solid and not blinking your antenna/Subscriber Module has a registered session on the tower on the other end. If this light is blinking, you are not registering with the tower. Please give us a call to help remedy the situation.

Reboot your wireless router in your house. This ensures that the wireless router will request a new IP Address from our system and reset any error conditions. You can reboot the router by unplugging the power for the router, waiting one minute, and then reconnecting power.

If you are not successful in connecting to the internet in the previous steps, please click on Step 4 above.

Reboot your computers in the house. This step ensures that your computers are requesting new IP Addresses from your wireless router.

If you are not successful in connecting to the internet in the previous steps, please give us a call and we will assist you in reconnecting.

My Internet connection seems to be slow

There are a number of items to consider when trying to determine the reason for a slow Internet connection. Most importantly, keep in mind that all devices connected to the internet in your house or business will be sharing the same bandwidth. If you have purchased a 10 Mbps plan and you have two devices each using 5 Mbps, your connection to the Internet will be at 100% capacity even though each device will only show a maximum speed of 5 Mbps. We have provided some general information on this support page to assist in determining the source of your slowness.

Start by accessing the Advantenon Billing Portal at https://billing.advantenon.com. After logging in, you can run a Speed Test to validate the speed your computer is receiving. This Speed Test is a cleaner test than most as it does not load any of the Advertisements that commercial Speed Tests use. Remember that the speed shown on this speed test is the speed your computer is receiving, and is not likely going to match your subscription speed as other devices in your residence/business will also be using the link.

When you have completed this step, click on the Step 2 tab above.

Turn off all devices in thouse residence/business that are connected to the Internet, except for the device your previously ran the Speed Test on. Rerun the Speed Test to see what the isolated speed of your device is. This should be more representative of speed of your link. If at all possible, the testing device should be wired to your wireless router, rather than communicating over a wireless link as this can affect overall speed. We will cover this in the next step.

When you have completed this step, click on the Step 3 tab above.

Eliminate signal strength issues of your wireless router by moving your wireless device within 10 feet of your wireless router. The speed at which your wireless device communicates with your wireless router decreases as the signal strength decreases. You can validate this by running the above Speed Test from right next to the wireless router, and by running the Speed Test again when you have a poor signal several rooms away.

If you have performed all of these steps and feel the speed of your link is not performing as expected, please give us a call and we can validate the wireless connection strength to your antenna/Subscriber Module, as well as perform additional troubleshooting steps. You can contact us here.
